Santa Barbara beaches are pristine with long stretches of sand as far as the eye can see along the coastline. As you look out into the ocean you will find the Channel Islands located a few miles out to sea which shelters Santa Barbara with natural beauty.
There are a very limited number of oceanfront homes available for sale at any given time, which has had a strong impact on the prices of oceanfront homes in Santa Barbara. Oceanfront homes start around $4 million.
Here is just a brief description of the beach areas of Santa Barbara:
Carpinteria Beaches are a long stretch of beautiful sand. Carpinteria State Beach is nicknamed the "Worlds Safest Beach." There are two gated beachfront home enclaves in Carpinteria. They are Sandyland Cove and Sand Point.
Padaro Lane is nestled into a cove. This is one of the most private and exclusive sandy beaches where oceanfront homes range from significant estates to more modest older homes on the beach. Most homes set back from the already private beach making Padaro Lane an ultra private oceanfront paradise.
Fernald Point is another area of exclusive oceanfront homes. Located in Montecito, with fantastic schools, these oceanfront homes are set back off the sand offering a wonderful sense of privacy on the beach.
Miramar Beach is also located in Montecito. Most of the homes are small beach cottages right on the sand. You can walk to Hotels, or to the Village from this sandy beach.
Hammonds Beach offers some of the most exclusive oceanfront Estate homes in Montecito. This also is a short stroll to Hotels and the Village from this sandy beach
Butterfly Beach is also located in Montecito, and is one of the few west facing beaches which creates a terrific venue for watching sunsets. This beach is directly across the road from the 5 star Biltmore Hotel.
East Beach is in the heart of Santa Barbara. Volleyball on the sand attracts people to play all year long. East Beach is within walking distance to State Street restaurants & shopping, the zoo, or renting bikes to ride the miles of path along the ocean.
West Beach also in the heart of Santa Barbara is a continuation of the East Beach fun. West Beach is host to several important sporting events. Nestled between the Wharf and the Breakwater, you can enjoy boats coming and going, as well as a myriad of ocean activities including kayaks & windsurfing to name just a few.
Leadbetter Beach also in the heart of Santa Barbara is a continuation of the East & West beach fun, with plenty to do. Its located between Shoreline Park & the Breakwater. It is host to one of only two restaurants on the sand in Santa Barbara.
Hendry's Beach is officially named the Arroyo Burro Beach. Its nestled into a cove, which lends privacy, yet offers plenty of amenities. It hosts one of two restaurants on the sand, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Hope Ranch Beach is considered a "private beach", as the road access to the beach is gated, and only the residents of Hope Ranch who pay annually for a key can access the road. People can walk to Hope Ranch beach from the sand, so it is not technically private, although not many people walk to the Hope Ranch beach. The Hope Ranch beach offers cabanas, bathrooms, showers, a snack shop, and kayak storage.
Goleta Beach offers a restaurant on the pier, volleyball, picnic and fishing facilities. It's a local favorite for picnics with tables and bbq on site.
